Everything You Need to Know About CEREC Same-Day Crowns

It’s a familiar dental routine: you get a cracked tooth, a filling falls out, or you need a root canal. Once the damage is addressed, you need a crown to restore the chewing surface of your tooth and prevent further decay or infection. Out come the impression trays, and the uncomfortable, goop-laden process begins.

Afterwards, your impressions are sent to a third-party fabrication lab, and you have to schedule another visit to come back for your crown to be placed. It’s a long, drawn-out process that leaves you dealing with an ill-fitting temporary crown, and driving back and forth. What if there was a better way?

At Temecula Ridge Dentistry, Therese Murphy, DDS and her team provide same-day crowns, thanks to our on-site CEREC machine.

Everything you need to know about CEREC

Wondering what all the excitement is about? Here’s why a CEREC machine is a game changer for patients at our office.

Comfort

The computer-assisted design (CAD) and computer-assisted manufacturing (CAM) processes mean we can scan your mouth digitally, with no goop required.

Speed

The digital scans only take a few minutes, and then the machine can create a 3D model of your teeth. This model is used to guide the construction of your new crown, which is fabricated while you wait.

Accuracy

Unlike traditional impressions, the CEREC process is extremely accurate. While molds can be warped or damaged, requiring them to be redone, the scan of your mouth is scientifically precise.

Convenience

Since your crown can be fabricated while you wait, you can get it placed the same day. This means you don’t have to make an extra appointment to come back into our office.

Durability

CEREC is used to create 7.5 million restorations every year, with a less than 2% failure rate (often caused by underlying issues with the tooth or gums, not the actual restoration.) Overall, CEREC crowns are comparable to traditional crowns in strength and life expectancy.

Aesthetics

With CEREC, the shade of your tooth can be correctly matched and your restoration fabricated to match exactly. This gives you a completely restored smile that looks as great as it feels.

Do you have a tooth that requires a crown? Thanks to CEREC, the team at Temecula Ridge Dentistry can provide everything you need to restore your smile, without uncomfortable impression trays or the need to come back for a final fitting.
